I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist and assistive technology specialist with a deep passion for helping children with the most complex communication challenges. My journey in speech-language pathology began right after grad school when I was eager to make a difference but still learning the ropes. Fresh out of school, I began my career as an SLPA at a private clinic, working with a diverse range of clients. During this time, I quickly developed a love for working with autistic children; I loved the challenge!

This passion led me to transition into the school setting, where I worked in self-contained classrooms for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disabilities. Many of my students needed AAC, so I learned on the fly, thanks to the incredible mentorship of assistive technology (AT) specialists in the Palm Beach County School District. This experience ignited my dedication to ensuring every nonspeaking or minimally speaking child has access to effective communication tools.

Before becoming an AT & AAC specialist for the Palm Beach County School District, I worked with hospital homebound students—those who cannot attend school due to medical conditions. I also have experience working as an SLP at a speech and language therapy clinic and providing teletherapy services. Now, as an AT & AAC specialist for the school district, I continue to support students who use AAC, striving to make a meaningful difference in their lives.

I firmly believe in a neurodiversity-affirming, child-led approach, and I advocate for the least dangerous assumption. The least dangerous assumption posits that it is far more harmful to assume a child cannot learn to communicate and do nothing than to presume their potential and provide the necessary tools and support from the start. By presuming potential, we open doors to communication, learning, and connection that might otherwise remain closed. 

On a personal note, I am married to a wonderful teacher, and we have a delightful toddler daughter who keeps us on our toes. My husband and I were both born and raised here in sunny South Florida. In our free time, we enjoy live music and outdoor activities like camping and scuba diving.
